Hi all,
Jonah from Rexburg Christian Ministries here. I was recently asked by a friend to include my FB posts on the Christian faith into an email format for easy revisiting. Not really sure if this qualifies as a blog but I suppose that can be the running title until I think of something better.
My friend who asked me to put these emails together is concerned with understanding truth. Eventually, I'd like to raise some important questions when talking about "truth" - is truth objective? How can we know something is true? All too often we settle for less than perfect reasons in why we believe what we believe. Maybe it just felt warm and fuzzy in our hearts. Maybe there was an element of pragmatism - "It worked for me!". Perhaps we are quite scientifically minded, preferring to only believe what we can test and demonstrate to be logical and rational. Many yet look to some kind of supreme organization to tell them what to believe.
Those questions, for a moment at least, will have to wait. I'd be remiss if I started this "blog" with anything less than "the good news". That's what "Gospel" means - good news. If the reader only ever reads this first post and nothing more, I'll be content knowing that they at least laid eyes on the most important message that's ever been declared. I'm not asking you to "try Jesus for 90 days". I'm here to let you know that God commands men everywhere to repent and believe this good news (Acts 17:30). Turn from sin, turn from self-righteousness, and be part of the Kingdom of God.
See you guys next time,
Jonah
